It's not normal - far from it. 240+ is normal, based on the several
hundred Tiger owners on the Yahoo groups I run/moderate. There's
something wrong with your bike - duff sensor or faulty tune at a guess
(assuming you'd notice if one of the dodgy tank connectors was cracked).
