Default Cornering

I am curious when I see pictures of riders taking corners (racing) at high speeds, they appear to be very low to the ground and turning slightly in the opposite direction... Almost like a counter streer but throught he entire corner...

Is this because they are sliding and controlling it (much like you turn the opposite way to slide a car) or are they in fact counter steering in order to stay low to the ground with the large forces of a high speed tight corner?

Any sites on this topic?

Not intersted in doing it , just need to prove or disprove a belief somebody had...
