Default help, gn250 stopped dead! with smoke

hey guys, i need advice about my gn250, riding home from work one night it stopped dead on me, upon having a look i seen smoke coming from the wiring on what i think is the regulator, the little black metal box behind the motor, obviously this part is stuffed, does anyone know of a good secondhand one about as they are not cheap from suzuki, also could there be another problem that may have caused this and how do i find out if there is. any help would be appreciated, i need this bike going again especially with 95 octane at $2.11 a litre now!!!!!

Hi there.

Probably best to get a mechanic to confirm the problem before going and replacing parts. May just have been a blown fuse (the main fuse). It is not uncommon though for the regulator/rectifier to crap itself, you can get second hand ones but be sure of the problem first.
