Derek Hill and Aucklander Phillip Harrison hit each other about 11.20am yesterday during the last lap of a national 600cc Sports Production championship race at Pukekohe raceway.
It is a sad tragedy, and both riders will be missed by many.
The crash seemed unavoidable for all involved once in action.
Hull, who was in front, had to slow down around a hairpin, and hit the brakes a little too hard, and his bike began to lay its front down.
With Harrison getting after him so hard, and being on New Zealand's fastest straightaway, he had no chance to avoid the collision.
We might also want to remember the fact that they had to help others overcome the death of other racers in the past. They deserve every prayer, and any support that can be given.
