| | | daydreaming and an barely OT video Drinks all around.
I'm still employed, and don't have much exposure to "the markets" so I'm not feeling that
pain much, yet, and the card is on the bar.
Was scheming up an electric motorcycle and a leetle windmill out back resulting in totally
free transportation. A greener slug bike contraption kinda concept. Probably don't have
the skills, tools, motivation, time or capital for that either, but in digging around for
ideas I came across this video of what they claim is the quickest electric vehicle in the
quarter mile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVv0NVLFPig
Their site: http://www.killacycle.com/
Looks like fun.
I'm gonna need a bigger windmill.

Let's see... "400 hp"... "I'm not the driver"... "Most dangerous motorsport"... no helmet,
burnout in front of a camera...
Sage advice indeed.
Still looks like fun though.

The bike is seriously cool.
The stunt was pretty foolish for a supposedly smart guy.

In the initial vid he credits the tire's ability to hook-up for the new record time.
It hooked up real good in the crash vid. He was screwed right then and there, imho.
fwiw, the electric contraption I'm daydreaming on is in the 4 to 15 hp range, maybe an old
golfcart motor, or such.

Somehow "Hey, Igor, hold my Ehrlenmeyer flask" just doesn't have the
right ring to it.

I don't know what happened to cause that wreck but I suspect it was a
combination of too good a grip by the rear tire and not too good of a grip
on the front brake lever, then a little panic and boom.

cool still, to think he has about 30-40k in that bike, (I'm sure no
time labor $ figure, still though, electric power is a good way to go,
we have the technology, just no one (translation = no fuel companies
or corn growers) really wants to use it. we were able to get a
electric car to run all day long for commute in the late 70's, and
still no one is really advancing that technology to much over the last
30 years (I admit that was a fun place to work)

as soon as I saw him putting his body to the rear, you knew what was
coming, he freaked probably, cause he darn sure didn't seem to let off
that throttle very soon

there are better motors out here today that use far less startup

Since I have no budget at all, I'm interested in anything and everything.
Some of these do regenerative braking, some don't, and they range from under $500 on up. I
don't understand all the differences yet. http://www.electricmotorsport.com/st...rts_motors.php
The golf cart motor idea was just because of price and availability. Under 200 on ebay,
might be able to find one locally for less by asking around.

I'd like to try some of the larger instant start machine motors, if I
find my pamphlet I'll throw some names out here. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
