Default HD Sales folks quote lower for a cash purchase, or a financedpurchase?

Do HD Sales folks typically quote lower for a cash purchase, or a
financed purchase? Anyone know the answer or have a relevant purchase
experience with an HD dealer?

When I bought my '05, they weren't having any trouble selling bikes so
a cash sale didn't get me a better deal. I had to take advantage of
"bike show" pricing just to get MSRP! Now that there is lots of
inventory sitting around getting dusty, I suspect you will get a
better deal. The only time cash will get you a better deal is when
the seller is in a hurry to sell. Ask them. Be prepared to walk away
from the deal.

It sure is dry in here. Anyone else thirsty?

On me......

When I bought my 2005, I got MSRP, plus the cost of some upgrades they'd done
(speakers, XM radio mounting)......they charged me about double what the
upgrades were worth.......and did most of them wrong resulting in me having to
do them over later.

The one I bought was sitting in the storeroom and they were rolling the 2006
models out into the showroom......

Since I walked in the door with my own financing, it was the same to them as
cash although they offered to match my credit union's interest rate. I took
their deal to save me a trip, few days later my CU lowered their rates so I
moved my financing to them.

I also put 50% down in cash......

All dealers make additional profit if a motor vehicle is financed.
It's an instant kick back from the lending institution.
I've always felt that any life style purchase should be in cash.

You're gonna be in Kansas shortly after the election to get that beer,
so that'll get rid of your thirst. <sfsf>

For starters, I AIN'T gonna ride to Kansas from Seattle in November.
Second, if after the second Tuesday in November, I wake up in
Dumbfuckistan again, I'm going to have to seriously consider moving to
Canada or Mexico. If it's Mexico, I'll swing by on m'way to
Michoacán. Assuming I don't wake up in Dumbfuckistan, I'll start
thinking about a springtime scoot trip down through the "reclaimed
territories", and Chateau Stinky will certainly be on m'dance card.
And lastly, I just can't get m'head around the idea that white-hot,
pissed-off 'merica, is going to rally round Johnny Walnuts once they
start payin' attention.

You'll keep the beer cold either way wontchya? <sfsf>

Which is why I carry American Express. I have no life or style or cash.
Don't leave home without it.

Thanks all. I actually thought they might give a better price if I
financed it with them, but I gather my best bet is to walk into three
dif dealers, get a cash price, and take the best offer.

.....or finance it for 72 or 80 months then turn around and pay it off
in thirty days.

BTW- The H-D dealers in my area (central NC) are drowning in inventory
and there are a lot of deals to be negotiated.

Or decide just what the bike's worth to you, walk in to the dealership,
make the offer, tell them it's an Out The Door offer and that there's no
more money on the table. If they take the offer buy the bike, if they
don't, walk out the door.

Unless, of course, they are running a 0% financing incentive.

All deals are cash deals to the dealer. Whether you give them the
cash or the bank gives them the cash, it matters not. There is some
rate to be made on financing... sometimes. Interest rates being what
they have been recently, it ain't the money maker it used to be.

In 04 Harley (Canada) was offering a $1000 credit to be used at the
dealership if the purchase was financed with Harley credit. No cash discount
was available at that time. They then allowed the financing to be paid off
before the first payment was due - without penalty.

When I bought my '04 it was 90 days and then it was open.
Not that it was a problem.

These days (in Canada) it makes no difference cash or finance.
At least not where I work.
