Mine's still up. BTW not to change subjects but I broke down and spent about
$1500 on the Mercury Grand Marquis a couple months ago and replaced the bad
tranny, the car was a dream to drive again. We lent it to the SIL's dad
while his car was in the shop and he broke something in the steering column
that connects the shift lever to the shift linkage or something. Anyway the
car is still over his house while he tries to find parts to fix it. Is there
any reason to believe the transmission work could have contributed to the
part failure? Is the part as hard to find as he is making it seem?

Hell who knows why it broke. I wouldn't rule out that it's because it
was just worked on but it could be a coincidence. What year is it, if
it's ten years old some parts can be a bitch to get anymore.

It's a '92. I was told the part that broke is made of a cheap alloy that
can't be welded or anything. Maybe need to check junk yards.
Thanks for the input.

Yep, dead duck this evening after work. Motzarella for now until I
