I doubt it will do burnouts an wheelies as good as my FXR so it barely
raises an eyebrow for me.
It would be more unique to go the other way, making a Harley look like a
Black Shadow.
Either way he fucked up an Indian frame and somewhere a Vincent is
missing it's motor. Either of those bikes complete and correct would be
worth more in my eyes. |

I doubt I could live up to that bike, but I'd damn sure give it a shot.
Shit, anything that's got a Vincent engine has more cool than I'll ever
have.

You'd be wrong.

I see the cool factor but why encumber the Vincent with all that weight?
I'm a function over form guy as you can see, and I revel in the
engineering of the Vincents non-existent frame. Gives new meaning to
"all motor".
Also I noticed another glaring feature, if you look at the way the motor
is designed, well look at a 1125 Buell...... It shouts Vincent. |

Cool factor ++
I have always hated the merged/common intake design, it was done for
simplicity, and is just not right....
It's hard to do on anything but a 4 cam motor unless you are married to
a cam grinders daughter or are a lifter block magician.

Ever heard th' name Chet Herbert before? He came up with a Knuck cam
grind that was th' BOMB. I had him grind me one (wish I'd've had th'
foresight to get a couple/three). When I picked it up he/they were
just firin' up a Knuck with two front heads that he did alla th' cam
n' lifter block work on. That mutherfucker ran like a raped ape. God
damn it sounded saweeeeeet too.
I *think* he's still alive, but doesn't do any hot roddin' stuff
anymore, his kid, Doug, is runnin' th' bidness tho. Dunno if he'll do
H-D stuff, but it'd be worth a phone call if ya ever have a need fer a
one off cam.

I went on the VME Isle of Vashon run a couple months back. There
was a guy there with a White Shadow, in pristine condition, except
he painted it bright orange. He bought it for $2,500 about 30 years
ago.

Lost one of his nuts in a T-bone accident on his single loop framed
hot rod Knuck. He's been a VME guy forever. MaGGie's been over to
his place and damn near bought an Indian Sport Scout from him. Has a
shitload of rare bikes in that house.

Thankyewverymuch.
In the almost 3 years I've been working at Vince's we've done a '68, a '69,
and we currently have a '70 almost ready to paint. Pisses me off every time
I walk by the damn thing.
Finally got rid of the '56 Buick, but got a '47 Chevy to replace it. Got a
couple of Mustangs in the last few weeks, a '69 convertable and just
yesterday a '65 fastback. The '65's already a hotrod that we're just doing
some rust repair on, but the '69 will be a ground up.
The POS '69 Land Rover came back yesterday with what appears to be a blown
head gasket. He was telling me that he's got another one but it has a Chevy
motor in it. I asked him if he'd ever wondered why<g>.
At least the boss finally sold the Rolls.

Heh, all it takes is a big spoon. I've done a lot of stupid shit...at least
that trick wasn't one of
'em.
Sold a '53 F-100 one time. Two weeks later the master cyl. went out and the
chick drove it into a wall to stop. Only bent the frame in 5 places. Then
there was the '61 GMC carryall with the Ford 390/FMX drive train.
While I was working on my '61 F-100 last week replacing the generator I told
some spectator that I was getting ready to do a 302/AT swap. Tried to tell
me how much more it'd be worth with the stock motor/trans(which it already
doesn't have<g>). Told him,"Not to me." and kept working. Then he told me
he hasn't seen an oil bath air cleaner in a long time. Told him he *still*
hadn't, and kept working. He walked away with his wife telling him what an
asshole I was. I kept working.
Moosehead,, anyone?

Oh, and I left out the best part. 1/2 hour later I went to my wife's stall
at the craft fair and here this guy was, his wife purchasing one of my
wife's wind chimes. Told him he just paid for about 1/2 the
generator.<sfsf>

I never was introduced to him but he's a friend of the president
of the VME, Barry Mercer. We attended the same high school. Barry
was riding a 1955 K Model.
