| | | OT: I bought another bus... No need for a cross country relay this time, it was 11 miles from home.
Not sure if it'll run yet or not, but for the price, it was a steal.
It's in serious need of some paint. Not sure what color, but I do know 3
colors that need to go. http://triumphchoppers.com/gallery/album68
I haven't decided what to do yet. I bought it as a donor, but it's
almost too clean to part out. The transmission has a 4.56 ring and
pinion, not sure I want to part this bus for a small change from 4.12 to
4.56.
I'm going to try getting it running Wednesday. The engine turns over by
hand.
If it runs OK, I'll have to decide what direction to go...
1. Hippy van / Baja tow vehicle
2. Donor for the Thing or Baja (Still waiting on a call for the Thing)
3. Lift it and use it on some of the easy trails.
4. Get it running, clean it up some, and resell (not leaning this
direction at all) |

Kewl. I'm envisioning a Partridge Family bus paint job. ;-)

Not exactly... http://www.johnjneumann.com/blog/Par...amily_bus2.jpg
Molly's been wanting me to paint a VW a solid color and let the
grandkids help paint it. Hand prints, foot prints, things like that.

Unless it has some serious rust underneath or insurmountable mechanical
or electrical problems, that's way to clean to part out, IMO. Of
course, I'm living in a place where we don't often see vehicles that age
that clean. Salt air corrodes things pretty quickly, so we see a lot of
moth holes around here.
Nice score.

Consider painting it up to look like a package of Wonder bread.

White bread is bad for you.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought when I showed up to get it. I can't
believe he let it go for $300, with a good title. I'm really leaning
towards a Baja tow vehicle...

Not sure that'd be much of an improvement over the current paint... <G>

Only one option there Les, HIPPY VAN!!!!!!!
I have been looking for one of those as well.
Good score.

Thanks. It runs too, but is leaking fuel and oil. I think the fuel is
just a bad line, and the oil is most likely the filter or adapter is
screws to. I think that's why he parked the bus. There were 10 quarts of
cheap oil in the back...
