they dont. ruger recognized a good design and copied it. i woudlnt be
surprised if we dont see some legal action from kel tec before its over
(just like how glock successfully sued S&W.

Ain't it great? I can't shoot the .45 off the back porch, there's a
neighbor off through the woods in that direction so I save the back
porch for the shotguns. The .45 gets shot off the front porch or up
by the shop. I've got a little 25 yard range set up across the drive
from the shop.

Th' only direction I need to worry about is to th' west, where th'
road is. Then again, there's so many fuckin' trees between th'
house/shop to there that I prolly couldn't thread a round through 'em
that far if I tried.
We've had peeps out here who "went for a walk in th' woods". Stupid
city folks. Once ya get 20' into th' tree line and turn around a time
er two, yer lost. Well, they were anyway. I seriously doubt I could
get a .223, 30-30 or awt 6 round to go more than 50' through that, let
alone 400+' from th' shop to th' road.
Plus what neighbors we do have, don't give a shit. You'd have loved

That's probably true of my neighbor's house, but I kinda like the guy,
so I don't take any chances.

The rectangular white roof next to the white part of the drive is my
shop. The house is the dark spot next to the brown part of the
driveway. I usually walk out of the shop to the road, and shoot
across the road down toward the creek at the bottom of the hill. The
hill on the other side of the creek rises well above my elevation and
there's nothing there but trees, so I don't really worry about stray
rounds.
This ain't a bad pic, Yahoo's was taken before I even built the shop
and in the summer besides. At least with the leaves off the trees you
can see the land contours better.

The neighbor to my west has a couple of guns and he shoots more that I

me and gets his. 4th of July was a blast, so to speak.

Colt. According to the charts on M1911.org the manufacture date was
in 1918.
T'was my dad's gun from WWII, and I've known it all my life. It's a
straight 1911, but somewhere in it's life it had A1 grips installed.
They're in a drawer now, as my kid bought me a set of Pacymeyer's for
it.
I've also still got my first .22 rifle which I got on my 12th B-day, a
nice little Savage pump gun, and a couple of 12 gauges, just to round
out the collection.
Got a pic around here someplace, I'll put it across the street if I
can find it.

It's pretty damn dense, that's for sure. I stood out there
early in the morning, after taking a leak/brushing my teeth. I heard
large critters that *had* to be real close. I stood there scoping for
probably 5 minutes trying to see something. Never did.

and im sure one day it will be your sons. i have an old browning built
rifle like that handed down from my great grand father (built by john

any real monetary value anymore....but who cares about that anyway? like
yours, it still gets shot just as it was designed to do.

Prolly deer. And besides th' Douglas Fir, Hemlock's, Cedar's and
Alder's, th' underbrush (mostly Huckleberry and Salal) is thick and
about 8' high. If someone goes out there sans a compass, or doesn't
know th' trails, they're lost in no time flat. There's a pretty funny
story about that from one of th' early ParTay's.

I posted a pic and a link to a video from yesterday's off-road trip.
There were 8-9 4x4's and the Baja this time. I made it over several
spots on the trails I didn't think I'd be able to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bq5fLmM9kg
Still waiting on some decent rear tires, but letting the pressure down
to 10 PSI helped a lot.

that is pretty cool so i had to give it a whirl.
the bottom left you see the intersection of county road 192 and stone place.
from that intersection we own both sides of the road for about a mile back
towards the river. my brother owns the property on the top side from the
way that photo is oriented and i have the property on the bottom side.
basically from stone place and stone place court to a little over half way
to the river. my side is nothing but trees and is surrounded on three sides
by a wildlife management area. nobody can ever build any closer to me than
the houses in stone court and where i am planning to build is a half a mile
from them. i will be able to shoot in any direction i want from where the
house is going to be. http://tinyurl.com/3tbjlr
if my back doesn't get to feeling better soon i am going to go ahead and
build a house there and retire. its just too far to commute from the farm
to work is why it hasn't been done already.

my very favorite .45 acp. a ww2 relic brought home by an *old* friend.
upgraded with a bushingless quadralock barrel, full length recoil spring
guide, match trigger, lots of metal checkering, frame fitted to slide, etc. http://www.crowderinc.com/images/gun...ckgmodel08.jpg
notice the patent dates and other interesting stampings. on the side of the
slide are a set of crossed artillary cannons but i don't have a photo of
those posted. i'll have to get on that. these photos actually are kinda
poor, i need to reshoot them. http://www.crowderinc.com/images/gun...ckgmodel07.jpg http://www.crowderinc.com/images/gun...ckgmodel03.jpg
next is my tied for all time favorite . 45 acp. a randal "general curis e.
lemay". http://www.crowderinc.com/images/gun...l45knife01.jpg
oh yeah, curtis with his brother... http://www.crowderinc.com/images/gun...selemays01.jpg
the .45 that took me all over the country back in the early days of IPSC. http://www.crowderinc.com/images/gun...lt45comp02.jpg
some day i need to get serious and photograph my entire .45 collection. it
would be interesting to me just to see what all i have buried in the vaults.
michael
p.s. nathan and the other crew still haven't gotten the point i was trying
to make in the other group. open carry, even if it is legal, will upset the
occasional ignorant cop enough that it will escalate to confrontation and
occasionally somebody gets killed in the process. keep your stinking gun
concealed. anyone that carries openly for long will sooner rather than
later get hassled by the man. out of sight, out of mind, little to no
trouble. i have never been hassled over a concealed gun. i thought that
was a simple concept, oh well. |

nunya,
this is a VERY beautiful piece. i can only hope it means half as much to
you as it does to me (and i dont even own it!). i absolutely IMPLORE you
to reconsider your plans. the FLGR is "ok" if you must have it but please
do not bastardize such a beautiful piece of history by putting in a
bushingless barrel. if you want to give it a good going over like it
deserves, send it to wilson combat to be refurbished. they will make it run
like a swiss watch without bastardizing the heritage that john browning
designed into it.

correction: note i NEVER criticized you in that thread. i never even
responded to you in that thread.

i agree that its only a matter of time before you get hassled for open
carry. that said however, if its legal i do support the right to do so and
im glad that some are out there taking the hit for the rest of us. if a
right isnt used its only a matter of time before its lost. that said, as
hard as i try i cannot embrace open carry. my weapon is the ace up my
sleeve....a surprise for a bad guy who underestimates my ability to defend
myself.
.....its all about choices.

nathan,
that pistol was built by the son of the guy who brought it home from ww2
and is a fairly renown local pistol smith. i acquired it in its present
form and it can never go back to what it was. there has been too much metal
checkering and such to back up now. lots of those old military .45's laying
around, so no great historical loss, it is now a very interesting piece that
is all function. it is my winter weather carry gun. during the hot sticky
summer months down here i have to tote stainless.
some day i am going to drag out all of my .45's and photograph them with
some care for my website. i actually don't even know how many i have
currently. i keep buying rarer varients like randalls, detonics, dan
wessons and lots of colts. i picked up a couple of colt wheel guns
yesterday. a nice nickel detectives special and a old 1892 wells fargo
varient. got them stuck in the vault here at work hoping to sell at least
one before i get emotionally attached. i have two kimber .45's for sale at
present. there are so many of them on the market now that they are not
special anymore. one stainless compact and and a custom shop ultra cdp2. i
figure to use the money toward a turnbolt 50bmg.

if its worth it to you im certain wilson combat back build up and
reform...but they DO charge a premium rate for their services. i would LOVE
to find a real colt from that era, you have quite the find there.

dedicated to 1911s by chance?

it seems we share the same passion (or is it a sickness?). i know i have
several dozen 1911s but ive never bothered to count them. its like an
addiction of sorts. oddly enough i dont carry 1911s (i prefer higher
capacity platforms) but they are by far my all time favorite shooters.

He's stupid and irrelevent. A troll is a troll and by any other is still a
socially awkward instigator with no life. Sits behind a screen and fucks
around in a newsgroup of people who know each other IRL and clearly have no
use for him. His social life is null or he wouldn't find this entertaining.
I couldn't even imagine why someone would want to spend precious time with
people who have made it clear he's not wanted. It's sadly obvious what he's
like IRL. I filtered him for no other reason than he's a waste of time. He
offers zero and trolling here is the best he can do to provide some good
feeling in his disturbed world. He feels powerless in a world that has left
him behind and needs to take on a silly issue to faux subjugate anything in
his life. His paranoia results from being on the lifelong losing end of all
life has to offer. His bitterness manifests itself as chest thumping gun
toting bullshit. It's debilitating to be so insecure that you need to post
his insideously stupid message boards as respresentation of who he is rather
than something bike related. No regular here would ever feel the need to do
that. It speaks volumes and it's a tale of woe. Gnats been swatted by life

LOL. You gotta let that stuff out. It's not healthy to carry that sort
of thing bottled up inside you.
It'll turn you into a Frenchu.
And nobody wants that.

And you wonder why people think you are a fucking jackass.
The only anti-american thing you can do is NOT express your concerns with
things about OUR country that bother you.
As a matter of fact, there would be NO GODDAMN INSURGENT ATTACKS IF WE
DIDN'T invade.
Of course, Saddam might still be gassing, torturing, jailing and killing
people he felt were a threat to his authority, or in
the way but that wasn't the motherfucking subject now was it?
Let me set you on a clear path to not being a motherfucking moron.
Just because someone's opinion differs from yours DOES NOT make them wrong,
it doesn't make them "anti-american" nor does it give you licence
to talk shit. The one thing that sets countries like ours apart from the
various other forms of government *IS* our right to point out what we feel
are shortcomings in our
political/military/industrial/socioeconomic structure and activities.
For instance, I can't vote democrat because of the gun control issue, and I
can't vote republican because of the female reproductive issues, it seems
like no matter who
is running the joint they all want to tell someone what they can or cannot
do. That pisses me off but I am not going to spew a buncha hogwash
about how they are "unamerican" because I don't agree with the positions
they have taken on these issues.
I vote on a more local level where my input has real effect, and I trust
that those people I do vote for will represent me in the way I wish to be
represented.
I might also add that you ain't the only one who is gaping wide here, but
you are surely the most noticable.
I did like the pics you posted of the ride in Montana, and since my parents
live there I have a good reason to go and see ut for myself. <sfsf>
One last thing, I hear that newer keyboards have a <shift> key, you might
look into getting one. It makes your diatribes much more readable.
(Man this shit makes me thirsty, I need coffee, and set them up for anyone I
haven't offended here, and even those that I may have.)
And I lied, that wasn't the last thing. The last thing is your tagline. I
don't see how a bunch of gun forums is relevant to a motorcycle discussion
group.
I like firearms, 1911s and variants in particular, but there are a gazillion
places I can read about them when I choose to. It is really close to
advertising
which is strongly frowned upon here, even most motorcycle related
advertising.

Really?
Is this a political thread on RMH?
Can we take it offline?

i really dont care what a few anti-american pricks living in a pathetic

so you also blame america for insurgent terrorist attacks. got it. do you
also blame police men when an armed felon flees and hits an innocent
motorist? thats the SAME stupid logic.

gee, ya think? ya think his boys might still be out there raping 12 year
old girls at will?

i agree competely. his statements are anti-american all on their own with
no regard to what anyone else believes.
