Unfortunately, no. There's only one guy around th' PNW who *knows*
H-D frames, has th' jigs n' tools, and is th' fookin' bomb. Finding
him is a problem as he goes between Seattle n' Eastern WA. Finding
him not having a year long waiting list is even harder.
Hang on, I'll see what I can find out...
Heh, only took two phone calls. Now I gotta wait for him to call
back... he's drivin' a motorhome and doesn't wanna multi-task <g>.
What kind of frame work ya need done? He specializes in restoring
Flatty, Knuck n' Pan frames, but can do damn near anything H-D
related.
Oh, and it sounds like he's in th' south King County area (Seattle)
now.

It's a pan frame.
I'm tryin to talk the guy into a new frame as his is titled on the motor
# and this frame is a freaking pretzel. I am not sure there is a
straight tube on the frame. It may turn the stomach of a real frame guy!
Anyway it does not track straight, my framing square and calibrated
micrometer eyeball tells me the front wheel is about 1/2"+ off center.
So the neck is twisted and maybe pushed back. |

Rick Heek had this guy restore his '55 Pan frame, that thing was truly
an abortion. It was a thing of beauty and flawless after he worked
his magic. I've had him fix a couple of Knuck frames and am bringin'
him my '37 frame pretty soon.

Lotsa guys have frame jigs... I only know of one guy who *really*
knows how to use it. Wasco Frames is th' name of his bidness. All of
th' local old school guys know that he's th' only guy to go to if ya
want it done right.

He's en route to AZ, wanted to get their motorhome down there before
th' snow flies. Said he'll be back around th' 1st of Nov. and would
call me to make arrangements to do mine. We could meet up there if ya
want.
>What did the heekster pay for his?
I don't recall exactly, hopefully he'll chime in here pretty soon.
But, I wanna say it was a skosh more'n buyin' a V-Twin repop.
My '37 is pretty straight, but it's got some wrong shit like th' tool
box mount is late 40's and th' tank mounts ain't right either.
Actually, I suspect this frame was a mid-late 40's that someone brazed
on a pre 40's neck casting. I ain't ever been a purist and don't
really care if it's incorrect, I just want th' tank tabs lined up
right and change th' tool box mount whilst we're in there <g>.

The frame was a grotesque. Someone had taken a swingarm front, and
grafted a hardtail rear onto it. When Darwin took it apart, it had
fuckin' rebar in the downtubes and in the hardtail. All the bad
tubing was replaced, and sidecar loops, and all the little tabs and
castings were restored. The previous owned had munched the seat
plunger bushing area in the frame, and it was replaced by one from a
knuck frame. The only way anyone would ever know this, is if me or
Darwin told them.
It cost about $1900, not bad considering how incredibly munged the
frame actually was. About 9 years ago.
We talked while he had my frame, several times. Back in the day, he
chopped a lot of bikes. He felt that he had to make them right, and
he will not chop a stock frame any more. Besides, there are
aftermarket frames now that can be used. He knows the metallurgy, and
he can do anything with a frame that you can think of.
He told me of one bike that he fixed that had been folded in half. The
owner said that it rode better after it was repaired, than it did when
new.
Let me put it this way, having Darwin do your frame, is like having
Smokey Yunick do the motah in your cage.
He has a 53 Pan with the last set of HD Pan replacement cases. He
has extensively modified the heads, and the bike is capable of 200mph.

Oooh, a Darwin knuck frame. I'll let ya know now. His tolerances are
spot on. plus or minus zero. If you have a questionable part, it will
require the usual convincin' to fit where it should. OTOH, you
should be used to this from all the Taiwan Tedd shit that you and Eady
