Yikes. I don't know what I think about that. I hope he keeps his head

Thanks, Diane. I've got friends in indy TV production so I've been
approached by DIY and HGTV to do house features, last time for "My
House Is Worth What?" But if they ain't paying I ain't playing. But
I was the winner of This Old House's "Stupid Human Trick" last year so
I guess that's something.
The house is located in south Brooklyn in an area called Bay Ridge,
which is known mainly for three things. First, it was the
neigbhorhood for the disco flick, "Saturday Night Fever". Second, it
was where that F2 tornado hit Brooklyn last August, passing literally
500 feet from my house: http://www.brooklynrowhouse.com/brooklyn_tornado
Finally, it's the real life home of Marisa Tomei (Mona Lisa Vito, Joe
Pesci's squeeze in "My Cousin Vinnie"), Tony Sirico (Pauley Walnuts)
and Steve Schirripa (Bobby Bacala) from "The Sopranos". You get the
picture. Lotta Vinnies, Pauleys and Peteys around here.

Inch was guaranteed a commission to 2nd Lieut before returning so it

Hmmmm....I always figured they'd pay something. I watch a lot of
the room makeover shows, & Curb Appeal, Designed to Sell, etc. I've
got lots of ideas stored up for how to stage this house when we sell
it. We're not staying in northern Utah forever. And I still want to
make a padded headboard...(old private joke...)

I'll have to see if there's video of that somewhere.

Yup - Stephanie was moving to Manhattan because she was done with
this "Bay Ridge scene." I can rescite the whole movie for ya...:-)

Holy crap. We were on a Yellowstone trip last year at that time - I
don't even remember hearing about it.

All the men in my family were named Frankie. I was born at Brooklyn
Hospital, and we lived in Flatbush until I was 3, then we moved out
to Sayville, in Suffolk County. I've always thought it was the
coolest place in the world to be "from"...:-)
Agua remembers meeting up with you at your restaurant back in the
old days. Next time I'm in the area maybe we could hook up. I'd
love to see the house.

The row house blog was a good read. Did I miss the pictures of the
finished upstairs master bedroom? I saw parts but not the finished whole.
Good to see you in the VB&G again, stick around.

Well, I think he's probably right where he wants to be. I'm just a
nervous person.
Your house is gorgeous, by the way. I haven't had time to read it all
yet, but it's beautiful. My dad was born in Brooklyn, I'm going to try
to find out exactly where they lived. 1920, Irish neighborhood.

yes, those are more road oriented though then "on/off" road bikes like
the DR 400.
those would fall more under adventure touring dual sports, the KTM is
holding its own real well in that world like the F650 bmws do, in fact
most say it;s better off road than the R1xxx gs's, and the Suzuki
V-Stroms, another is the Kawasaki KLR 650 that is a great bike for the
buck, the ktm adventrue in that pic really caught my eye and if I
didn;t already own the bmw GS- I probably would have bought one of
them as it does fairly good on the highway and a tad lighter off road
and handle better with that 21 front wheel off road |

This is the closest I've got to "done" pictures of the whole room. http://www.brooklynrowhouse.com/node/84
Otherwise, the chronological history of the project is in this
mini-blog: http://www.brooklynrowhouse.com/master_bedroom.
Since then I've built the drawers and doors for that cabinet and
hallway window. Even though I started the master BR reno in Sept 2006
and moved back into it the following spring, technically it's still
not done. I've got to fabricate panels for that cabinet door and the
window into the hallway.
The Empire State Building was built in less time than I've spent on
this bedroom reno.

Thanks for holding onto the files for fifteen years or so, Steve, and
for loading it to flickr. Material from the site still shows up in
Google, too.
FWIW, one of the funny comments back then was a criticism when people
uploaded BIG files, like 100K! The first server was two 22mhz Macintosh
computers using DNS load balancing on a 56K line shoving bits through
thick wire. But it got better quickly.
Again, I personally cannot thank you enough.
