The family of the 44-year old Kawasaki rider was devastated when the
judge announced that the illegal alien would only have to serve one
year in the county jail as part of his probation.

His attorneys somehow managed to plea bargain the offense down from
gross vehicular manslaughter that could have put him
in prison for 15 years to an easy one year county jail senstence
for simple vehiclular manslaughter.

The illegal alien wouldn't look at a photograph of the deceased, but
he tearfully claimed that he never intended to hurt anybody when he
got into the car and drove drunk.

His passenger had begged him to slow down, but he didn't.

After he illegally turned left in front of the victim, causing him to
crash into the side of the car, the drunk driver fled down the
freeway, but was caught in less than a minute.

The victim died on the scene.

The illegal alien told the court that he'd like to "do more" for the
victim's family, as if he could replace the beloved man with mere
money.

But he went on to indicate that the judge was preventing him from
doing that.

He'll probably be released and will be headed back to Mexico in 6 to 9
months, based upon good behavior in jail...

Then he'll come back to America and drive drunk in some other town and
kill some other innocent American...

Forget the Illegal Alien part of this. He was driving drunk. Made an
illegal left turn (in Calif it is considered illegal due to the fact
that he turn in front of another vehicle), he fled the scene of a
accident. In Calif this more than just simple vehicular manslaughter.
Even with no significant criminal history, this man gets far more of a
sentence than this.

Typically, I read of sentences for drinking and killing of 3 to 10
years. One illegal alien, killed 3 on a family outing, he got
15 years.

have to be that way.

One vic's dad called Russ Brown. His expert lawyers made the prosecutor
refuse to plea bargain under threat of a lawsuit after showing him how to
win without it. The drunk spent five years in prison and his wife divorced
his ass to keep the vic's kin from getting her house.

The California Penal Code (I think it's section 193) calls for a
sentence of 1 year in the county jail for vehicular manslaughter or 16
months or 2 to 4 years in the state prison.

With the current California budget crisis, the defendant might get out
of state prison in only six months.

These stories *repeatedly* coming from newpapers in California's
central valley are formulaic, as if written to a script that includes
the same elements.

Drunken Mexican kills an innocent person and cries and apologizes
profusely in court, while claiming that he didn't intend to hurt
anyone and then gets a slap on the wrist sentence and probation.

Then, in the next few years, the Mexican kills somebody else while
driving drunk.

In the case of illegal aliens, they flee to Mexico, then return and
kill somebody while using an alias...

But I never see any stories about Americans driving drunk, killing
somebody and crying as they apologize profusely.

Either Americans don't kill people while driving drunk, or the
newspaper reporters in this area are "racist" for not writing about
the tragedy of innocent people killed by drunk Americans.

If this is in Southern CA, or another county that's looking to save a few
bucks, he won't do that much time.

In LA they're getting rid of alien inmates as fast as they can shove them
out the door. They figure they'll save money by letting the INS boot them
from the country, like they did one Mexican who was sentenced to 180 days
jail...he did one day.

Too bad that doesn't always happen. If he's sick, injured, or from a
country that takes more than 90 days to arrange a deport, he'll go free.

I read numbers of up to 2,000 American citizens killed yearly by
