Default bikes

Most of my life I have had a bike.I bought an Indian in a basket. Some-
how, I actually got it running in1965. I traded for a Harley (also in
a basket, boy, did I move up? I am an Union ironworker and so was my
friend that help me. However, my last bike was a 1500cc Goldwing and I
have to admit, that was some kind of ride. Never the less, I missed
the sound, the ride.the looks, and just the smell of a Harley. I would
like to buy another one that runs and looks pretty good but needs some
work. That is the way it must be right now money-wise. I would like to
haul it down to Daytona Beach with me and fine tune that Mama Huncher
where it 50% warmer. I am looking for a monster that could be
transformed into sweetness on a level of 7or8......Please be advised I
live on SS and an Ironworker's pension, which they took when I went
back to work for a short time out of my very own Local #44 in Cincy!
Go figure pal! Well anyway, I'm low on funds right now but Huge on
desire and hope. This is not a posting of oh poor me. Actually I've
been blessed many times over. It's simply an appeal for someone that
may want to let go of their once loved flower that possibly grew some
thorns Thx Hodgeebobba

Good luck with your search. If you play by the rules you might find
something over in rec.motorcycles.harley. On the other hand you might
get roasted or possibly ignored. Offer to buy them all a virtual
drink. That might help.

Hodgeebobba, I'm not sure what you budget is, but on the Westcoast
Vintage Flat Track Classified web site there was a nice looking project
street tracker for sale. It has a Harley XL1000 engine in a XR750 frame.
You would need to add lights to make it street legal, but it wouldn't be
too bad of a project at all. If I remember correctly, the asking price
was about $2500. I thought about buying it to race in the vintage open
twins class.

Sounds fun!
Pick up one (or some) of the huge parts catalogs available, then open
up an eBay account and build it piece by piece, or even start with a
rolling chassis.
(I know someone selling an EVO Softail Roller BTW)
I think with one of those catalogs you could almost build an entire
bike without one Harley part on it!
