California's one redeeming value, Highway 4 between Angels Camp and
Markleeville. Used to leave Stockton after work on Friday afternoon and
have dinner at teh casino's buffets in South Tahoe via Markleeville. 88
& 108 are also very nice, as is 299 between Redding and McKinleyville.
Highway 4, however, will always hold a special place in my heart...
Might even have a pic or two here:

The blue K100LT in those pics (taken in 2002) belonged to my best
friend. We've put many miles on that road together when I was stationed
in Stockton 91-94. Last time I rode Highway 4 (summer '06) I'd just left
my best friend in a hospital in Oakland. The Dr's gave him about a 20%
chance of living and even less of ever leading a normal life again.
Brain infections will do stuff like that.

He's since mostly recovered and is living a just few minutes from here.
He'll probably never ride a bike again, but we do get a chance a few
times a month to go fishing together.

Damn... this sure turned sappy in a hurry.
