I no longer polish my bike; I just ride it. The shield is sufficiently
dirty that I can't look thru it in direct sunlight. The bike looks
like it's ridden now. I don't even look up used bikes anymore on eBAY
or Craigslist nor do I browse websites for farkles to add.
My son and I are off the look at a CBR600 for him tomorrow morning and
I'm psych'ed only because I get to stop in at Guitar Center for their
annual year-end clearance sale since I'll be in the area.
In the end, I am content with my motorcycle... and it doesn't feel
right. Sure, I ride it whenever I can and probably when I shouldn't,
but I'm not buying anything for it anymore and I'm not even looking. I
spent two years buying and selling bikes, researching and adding
farkles, being scrupulous about checking mileage for the next oil
change, and fretting over MPG - and now, I just ride the doggone thing
without worryig about it.
Where's the excitement of gear lust? The anticipation of buying crap I
can't afford or even want? The thrill is gone baby; the thrill is
gone...
