Default OT, call you mom

I thought at 10 PM sunday, I ought to call mom, havent in a while, but it's
too late tonight. 14 hours later an F-14 Tomcat augers in 2 blocks from her
house. Almost didn't get to call her. Carpe Diem

I'd be curious about cause. When something has two engines and can fly on
one ... you want to know why both failed.

Call! Alot! Ask all kinds of questions about family. You'll be sorry if
you do not.

If we're talking about the crash in San Diego (Miramar) this
week, that was an F/A-18D - but it's still a twin-engine bird.
I don't think any cause has even tentatively been proposed yet,
but we should note that "aircraft which have two engines but
can fly on one" does not equate to "aircraft which will proceed
on their way as if nothing happened when one engine suddenly
quits." A twin-engine plane losing an engine, esp. at low altitude,
is generally a high-pucker-factor experience.

And in a related (and seasonal, even!) bit of humor:

Santa Claus is due for his BFR*. As he and the examiner are
walking out to the sleigh for the check ride, Santa notices that
the other man is carrying a deer rifle.

"What's that for?" asks Santa.

"You're going to lose an engine on takeoff..."

That is *such* a good joke it merits x-posting to the pilots on ukrm.

That's such a subtle way to start a gun thread x-post that I'm almost
tempted to only reply to ukrm. Not tempted enough though...

All you need to do now is get it to include the WTC and a certain
grassy knoll and xmas is here already.

I, personally, haven't laughed that hard in farrrrr too long.

I really needed that.
