Today I went to this gathering:
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/770386697.html
Lots of funky bikes of mixed ancestry cobbled together out of
bits and pieces. A totally minimal iron head sportster bobber
(and a big collection of equipment violations); a vintage Indian,
a Harley 45 side valve, a shovel head with enough copper tube
plumbing for a steam engine, a BSA thumper and dozens more.
My fave was a modern Bonneville motor and drive train in
a hardtail frame. It was all shiny black paint and chrome,
a beautiful creation.
I took my chopper up there (on a trailer) and it held
the distinction of sticking out furthest into the street due to my extra
long springer forks. It's got a strange symbol in chrome just behind
the pillion, and so my bud (like an idiot) starts telling people it's
an ancient Chinese ideogram for "fuck you" and sure enough the word
spreads around and soon people were walking over wanting a T-shirt with
the same symbol. It was like a scene from South Park.
