They just weren't all that, and nor has any Dunlop I've ever used been
all that. I'm sure the new ones are great if Andy says they are, but
AFAIC Dunlop owe at least a dozen pairs of clean undercrackers, for
crimes committed on me over the years.

I'm looking at the FWR website now, and there are lots of choices ...
I'm wondering if I'm being silly by insisting on Renns, just coz I like
them ... I think I might ask them what they recommend, as I'm completely
out of touch with tyres. The 9R loved 010s, but they're museum pieces
now, and I've no idea what's what ... I dare Renns have been completely
overtaken too.

lol ... talk about "you can't win".

Just spoke to the chap at FWR - nice geezer I must say. His opinion was
that Renns are OTT for the road (not good in the wet, not good across
bumps, potholes and the like, which I can't say I've ever found to be
the case, but ok) so he recommends Diablo Corsas (which are what I think
I've got on there ATM - Loz, can you recall?) or ... wait for it ...
Dunlop RR Qualifiers

When I hesitated he said that the odd behaviour of the current set could
be due to squaring off (which I think he's right about), and he carries
the lot in stock anyway (Renns, Corsas, SuperCorsas, Dunlop RR,
Michelins, you name it), so why don't I pop down tomorrow evening for
their late opening session (til 8pm) and have a natter, which I think
sounds like a good idea. I've got my one day a week in the office
tomorrow, so I'll try to get out early and then pop over.

PS: I also liked the way, when I said I wanted something sticky for the
IoM, coz it's fast, he said "no you don't, you want something that grips
in the wet, coz it always pisses down ... I should know, I bloody raced
there"

I'm sticking the Renns that are on my CBR onto the SV. There's loads of
life in them, but they are just starting to slide about on track when
pushed too hard. It's good having two bikes that take the same sizes of
tyres.

Funny how your attention floats when you've got the flu.

From looking up John O'Farrell I've learned about social loafing,
evaluation apprehension and production blocking. Don't ask me how I
stumbled across them but it was all in a valiant effort to reserve a
copy of "An Utterly Impartial History Of Britain - Or 2000 Years of
Upper Class Idiots in Charge" from the local library.

I don't think I'll have the energy to get out of bed to get to the
library for another day or so. If there is anybody able to find the BBC
Radio 4 serialisation of the book please post a link.

BT015s on the GSXR.

Like 010s, and 014s only better.

The Sprint ST is going in tomorrow to get the "non starting" bit sorted
out as well as having its 6000 mile service. Additionally, it could do
with a new rear tyre.

So, do I try and match the front OE 020 with another 020, or even the
021, or shall I change both and of so, for what?

I'm usually a "black, round ones" type of bloke but I am going to
attempt to ride more through the winter this year[1] and so would
prefer something that will be good in the wet and cold.

Look, when you two have quite finished...

I have car. I have a Goretex jacket.

What motorcycle tyre(s) should I buy to fit my Sprint? I would like a
tyre compound that gives good grip in cold and wet weather.

Oh, ok. Well, from my very, very limited experience - I've found 020s
slow to warm up, and dodgy until they do, whereas the 010s and 014s
I've had have been grippier from the off. Fewer longevity, mind.

No idea. Riding a bike in cold and wet weather doesn't sound very

It doesn't look like I'm going to have much of a choice

Still, the IoM weather is a law unto itself, so it could go either way.
