Don't you mean "research"?

Homework tended to mean showing you'd learnt
the stuff they'd taught you that month when I was
doing my O-Levels.

I used the word "homework" because I feel like I'm replying to someone

Oooh, that's "twat" with a consonant, consonant, vowel, consonant.

It is nice to know the guy I sold it to is still running it though as
myself and the bike parted company 12-13 years ago.

I'm not sure he'd like you calling him a twat though.

So four hours is a consistent record.

Jolly good. Another direct-access twonk me wonders
who considers a few hours in a car park over the space
of three days is adequate training for all eventualities.

I think someone who tries to post authoritatively on tyre shelf life,
based on his observations of sports shoe and tennis ball packs, deserves
a special prize.

Fucking priceless. So you hand out erroneous advice about tyres on the
basis of what you've read on tennis ball and sports shoe packaging.
Excuse me while I laugh myself silly.

Hey, at least you filled in a gap in your knowledge. Now you can hand
our erroneous advice about condoms based on what you read about tyres.

And sort your sig out.

Nah they were great bikes 20 years ago.

It's a sweet handling and reasonably fast motorcycle. The suspension is
obviously outdated, and the brakes are less powerful than you'd like,
but it's a better bike than lots of cheap stuff since 1995, like ER5s
and so on.

I always thought it was a better bike than the GPZ500S which was
supposed to replace it. It took five years from the launch of the 500
twin before they pensioned off the 550.

Not that the 500S is a bad bike: just that the 550 was superior in
several respects.

I never liked the kawasaki twin engines TBH, so I never liked the 500S.

He needs a good fucking punch if you ask me, what a fucking tool.

Oops. That should be WWYY, unless my car's tyres haven't yet been made.

Never having ridden a scooter, I'm a bit bi-curious about them. I suppose I
ought to have a go sometime.

I feel the same about Harleys. There's an emporium barely a mile from
here and I've been waiting for the planetary alignment that will bring
me a spare, sunny day and a day suitably in advance when I actually
remember to book a bike.

I rode a Sportster when I was 16, haven't touched one since.

My first scooter was when I was 15 and it originally belonged to my
Dad, then my Uncle. It was a Lambretta LD150 (shaft drive) and I first
saw it in my Uncles shed but it wasn't running.

Turns out the final drive casing had been melted when a friendly
neighbour though he'd help him get the bearing out by overheating the
ally casting. :-(

I pestered him for a few years, was finally given it, a mates Dad sold
me a second hand casing for a fiver and I had a scooter! ;-)

At the time they were transport (and for me bikes still are) but are
still as much a motorbike as a quad, or outfit isn't.

They are however, very different to ride and are more steered like a
boat ... (similar to riding a tandem compared with a solo cycle).

The Daughters Piaggio Skipper 125ST puts many bigger bikes to shame
with it's equipment: Proper fuel gauge, digital clock and external
temperature gauge, immobiliser, twin headlights to equal a good sports
bike, electric start, good storage and a pretty decent pickup off the
line (and proper 4/ engine). ;-) Her first 500 miles were done on it
in all weather conditions and often dark country lanes and it never
put a wheel wrong.

She doesn't want to keep it now though. ;-)

All the best ..

T i m
